Moderate Overclock i5 2500K

Thread Starter
I plan on doing some moderate overclocking on the 2500K with this motherboard.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130583

I want to achieve 4.0-4.5GHz. If you look at my other threads, you will see that I am a newbie when it comes to overclocking/PC building. Will I need to change any advanced settings? I tried to read some guides, but they included some terms I did not understand.

I am using air cooling- Coolermaster Hyper TX3

Or can I just increase the Turbo Ratio and stress test from there?

Do I need to turn any general settings off when I OC in the BIOS?

Sandy bridge processors are very easy to overclock. It usually just takes just a vcore bump to hit 4.4-4.5ghz.

These threads here should help you a lot.

I see some differences in the ULTIMATE GUIDE and the MSI P67A guide. The ULTIMATE GUIDE says to disable EIST while the MSI one says to enable it.

They are not going to be 100% for your cpu, it's a guide, but generally power saving features should be left on default unless you are having stability issue's.

Its really not a big deal, I dont really think it matters. I have mine disabled but I pretty much just disable everything that is not needed.
