Apple patents the movement of any finger in a way such that it 1) creates input for a computing device and/or 2) electronically sends input to a computing device.

Apple patents the inflation of 1) diaphram and 2) lungs in such a way that sustains life.

Apple patents any way that 1) secures a future idea or prototype or 2) secures a current prototype or current product.

I hated typing on my ipod and I still hate it on my android device, if they switch to something like this they will never have me as a customer. It's something that will never be able to stack up against a real keyboard.

I usually like things Apple makes, but this is just bad. I hope it's only just a patent to ensure nobody else does it.

[...]noting that the new flat surface keyboard might include a haptic or tactile feedback mechanism to let the user "feel" something on the tips of their fingers when they have hit a particular key, to take the place of old-style mechanical switches or buttons.
What is this? If you're going to speculate you should examine a company's past to uncover its future direction. Feedback won't be a feature until at least 2nd Gen.

The iPhone 6: new with a new and improved virtual keyboard!

The iPhone 7: new with the same keyboard, but some haptic feedback.

The iPhone 8: new with the same keyboard, but can project a full-sized keyboard on external surfaces.

The iPhone 9: new with the same keyboard, but now able to shoot sonic pulses at your fingers when using the projected, full-sized keyboard.

I already have one, you know. Actually Apple bought these guys, this is were their multi touch tech comes from.

aka "Apple patents flat keyboard. Now will sue all phone makers, windows for their virtual keyboard, and laser keyboard companies"

Large companies shouldn't be allowed to patent things. Patents should only protect small companies and single people from getting their revolutionary ideas from getting stolen. Patents are coming up on tech that is YEARS and sometimes even DECADES old to gain leverage on other companies to create monopolies.

Next up : "Apples patents the word "apple" and also the general shape. All apple farms will be sued and destroyed. Also anyone who says the word "apple" will be in for a $5,000 fine"

This being from someone who is typing on a macbook. Tsk Tsk Apple
