"Safe" overvoltage for a 5v fan?

I got one laptop zalman cooler(ZM-NC3000U) and it's so silent that my laptop is louder(when gaming), so I'm thinking about overvolting it, it uses a 220mm 5v axial fan.
I'm thinking about 7v, would that be safe? Any idea of how shorter the fan life span should be?

lol, I tried 7v than 12v with the fan controller at minimum, almost instantly I smelled smoke
The fan works back to 7 and 5v, but the usb hub doesn't work anymore(I wasn't going to use it anyway, just tested to see if was what burned)
