Please Help Me Buy A Good Wireless Router.

Hello I recently have had my old router which was netgear WGR614 v4 i bought almost 10+ years ago. I have a budget of about 75 dollars at most and would love to have b/g/n if possible for future laptops/etc to use the new n connections. I would also like it to be hassle free and great for gaming as its priority and speeds for downloading junk with torrents/etc.

Any information is greatly appreciated. I really need to buy soon due to my connections crapping out every few hours and my wireless not reaching kids rooms. One thing that sucked was if i have more than 1 wireless connection the entire network would drop, etc.

Thank you guys ahead of time, and also what the heck is this tomato i keep reading about here ? custom firmware is it? how hard is it to use?

i've had this for over a year, not a single problem. dont put too much weight on the ratings given by poeple. half of them are just too retarded to set up a wireless connection and give it a 1/5.

Man I purchased some crappy netgear router and i think it came damaged or it just sucks in general.

I am going to stay clear of this company.

Anyways I need a replacement once again but only have a budget of no more than 85-90 dollars. What do you guys recommend? Please be aware I am a bit of a networking noob and don't really need/would probably would not know how to use a lot of the new advanced features.

asus vs d-link what do you guys say?

I'd +1 for the N16
Have had mine almost two years now and no issues using DD-WRT.

While i don't have a specific recommendation, id say grab a decent DD-WRT router and flash it, i believe there is a guide somewhere here on OCN with instructions and how-to's.
Just something to take a look at, could definitely save you a bit of money.

thank you both for reply i appreciate it, I am just going to have to wait and see which one is cheaper i guess, I keep hearing good things on the asus one i missed out on deal with free shipping unfortunately.

I have always heard good things from lynksys brand but i never see any of their product sell below 100 dollars. But in reality like i said, as long as my internet is fast/reliable and does not crash at all or often ( stable connection ) I won't use routers for anything else. Also i live in apartment so the range doesn't have to be blocks away or that far anyways I am not planing to share with anyone either; thus anything over 80 bucks probably would go to waste.
