Alright, i have an old p4 laptop with 512 mb of ram. and it's cd drive has died, can't boot from usb and has no floppy drive, and I need to reinstall windows on it, it's been quite a long time. It's a Toshiba satellite and they are very picky about their cd drives I've replaced it with 3 others that I had laying around, and it didn't take them, even before it died.

So I had a though, to install windows and I would like to know if it would work. If it remove the hard drive and put it in one of my desktops, run the install cd, and let it copy all the files over, turn it off when it tried to reboot and them move the hard drive over to my laptop, would it then install with the right cpu drivers and everything?

Cpu drivers aren't even required unless it's a cracked mac install.

You should be fine.

I thought at some point it had to install either Amd or Intel drivers? That's the reason why if you completely install the os on the other pc, without installing any other drivers, it won't work if you transfer the hard drive? I don't know, I could be wrong.

Well for me, the only drivers that I care about installing on laptop, is the wireless driver. Then I can get all the other driver updates that I need.

Also, I found your XP drivers.

Well I already have all my drivers saved on a flash drive, I just needed to reinstall. So from what I understand, it'll work so I'll try it out.
