Fans that need longer screws

Thread Starter
So I got 4 Yate loon fans for the RX240 rad, but I noticed that you cant use the normal small ones to attach them to the rad because the screw holes are connected. I dont know how to exactly describe this.

So yeah, anyone know any screws that would work and where I could get them from?

If it's the RX240 v2 then you need 1 1/4" 6-32 screws but be doubly careful they don't puncture the rad as they're 31.7mm long. If it's a RX240 v1 then you need 30mm M4 screws.

Edit: that fan type is called 'closed corner'. Where do you live?

If it's new and bought recently it'll almost certainly be v2. If you have a thumbscrew for your case and it fits it'll be 6-32 threads which are common in the US but not in the UK. I think McMaster-Carr stock them and they have 1 1/8" ones in stock which might be a closer fit than 1 1/4"

Hmmm I may just mod it, if I have the tool.
Inches really confuse me (not from the US, just live here).
And yes I bought the Rasa kit about 2 months ago. So should be v2

Go to home depot and buy some. Take a fan with you if you must to test out the screws length and see how far it sticks out.

Why do I always find this stuff after I spend hours doing it the hard way

I didn't think to crush the tubes with pliers. Just went at it with a hacksaw and a big file.

Go to the hardware and pick up a pair of

most have a screw cut off tool. You thread in the screw and cut to length.
Get some long 6/32's and cut as needed
