There isn't a 4 as far as I know, you might be getting that mixed up with the mamba which there is a 4g version of. Just get the newest 3.5 edition deathadder, the regular one if you want lights and glossy sides or the black edition of you want rubber sides. I would personally go for the black edition because the glossy sides on the regular version annoy the hell out of me.

How much dpi would you need to use to run into perfect control issues?
I just tested again. Firmware 31 seems to work the best for me at 500 hz, 3500 dpi on a PureTrak Stealth, even though I can induce acceleration. However, I don't think I'll ever swipe that fast while playing Starcraft II. The LoD is 1cd with fw31, 2cds with fw32, and ridiculously high with fw30a.

I guess it depends what kind of games you play and how fast you swipe.

Im not a fast swiper. I use my wrist to move my mouse also.
Its dependent on your mousepad. I'm not having problems on an xtrac pad, which is what I use. FW32, 1800DPI, no problems in low sens play, good LOD. But it has a very low perfect control on a hard black pad that I tested, low enough to be unplayable to me on that pad.

Seems like the firmware is just immature at this point. Hopefully CM will continue developing it, especially if they intend to release more mice based on this sensor as they indicated.

The other thing is, I dont think people realize how tiny this mouse is. If you are used to deathadders or other palm mice, the spawn is completely different grip style and might be a turn-off. Give it many hours to get used to the new style.

Seeing as the mouse still isn't on newegg or other US sites, I'm wondering what is really going on.

Anyone know what the LoD and perfect control are like on an Artisan Shiden in white?

Seems to me like a Spawn 2 is in order.

It's weird that although good sensors have been available for a while (DA for example), they still release mice with worse sensors. Price issues or what?
Also the thick cable needs to go.

I have to wonder about all the issues folks are reporting now with their Spawns. My Spawn was from an early batch, in fact, I was probably among the first people in the US to get their hands on one. Yes, it had some firmware teething issues, but since starting to use FW Ver. 32, I've found nothing to complain about, it's working flawlessly for me. I'm wondering if the later batches, since the official US release, have slightly different hardware or something?!?! The best settings for me are 500 Hz and 800 cpi, FW32 , and using it on a Mionix Sargas 460 solid black cloth mousepad. No skipping at all, no matter how fast I swipe, though it will go into negative accel, at speeds in excess of 2 m/s (not an issue for me in-game). No jitter either, regardless of speed. Excellent LOD. I can't believe my mousepad is all that special or different enough to account for this (for those not familiar with it, it's fairly similar to a QCK Heavy), it must be something else affecting other people's results .
