My CM Storm Spawn Experience - Page 7

Just got my spawn. It feels like an orgasm in my hand. Have not yet gotten time to test it's performance out, it got delivered just before I was heading out of town for my grandmothers funeral.

All testing done with firmware 32 on a PureTrak Stealth

at 500 hz, 3500 dpi, CS: Source 1920x1200, raw input, .36 mouse sensitivity, windows 6/11 no enhanced pointer precision

Since I'm no expert in testing mice, there's either no acceleration or a slight bit of positive.

at 500 hz, 1800 dpi, CS: Source 1920x1200, raw input, .72 mouse sensitivity, windows 6/11 no enhanced pointer precision

There's either no acceleration at moderate speeds or some negative acceleration at high speeds, but again, take everything I say with a grain of salt since I've never done this sort of testing.

at 500 hz, 800 dpi, CS: Source 1920x1200, raw input, 1.50 mouse sensitivity, windows 6/11 no enhanced pointer precision

Negative acceleration at very high speeds. No acceleration at moderate and high speed.

2CD LoD on my PureTrak Stealth with firmware 32.

In terms of inches or screen width, how much does 5% acceleration affect the placement of the cursor at 1920x1200 resolution on a 25.5" monitor?

Ok I just compared my Valor:

at 1000 hz, 3500 dpi, CS: Source 1920x1200, raw input, .34 mouse sensitivity, windows 6/11 no enhanced pointer precision

Negative acceleration at high speed.

at 1000 hz, 2000 dpi, CS: Source 1920x1200, raw input, .5 mouse sensitivity, windows 6/11 no enhanced pointer precision

This setting seems to be completely off. Acceleration even at low speeds.

at 1000 hz, 1000 dpi, CS: Source 1920x1200, raw input, .68 mouse sensitivity, windows 6/11 no enhanced pointer precision

This setting seems to have no acceleration even at high speeds, but it does feel more like 1800 dpi.

at 1000 hz, 500 dpi, CS: Source 1920x1200, raw input, 1.15 mouse sensitivity, windows 6/11 no enhanced pointer precision

This setting is completely messed up. Acceleration at all speeds.

Yeah, that was a bit of an exaggeration but it got the point across tongue.gif

I've never touched a mouse I didn't have to adjust to until today.

I think 2m/s is about as fast as I would ever move the mouse, as I said I'm not an extremely low sense player. Even if I hit 2m/s its only during a rare "oh ****" situation that I would move it that fast.

I had the spawn actually malfunction on me two times within an hour of game-play and make my character face the sky twice. This was with my all black goliathus speed and the default high LOD 30a firmware.

Sensor was clean, I always have a can of air on my desk for those kinds of things.

Sounds like RMA is in order..wish you had gotten a decent one for reviewing purposes but I guess lemons are always a risk in electronics.

I seem to always get lemons. My EC2 had a weird tracking bug that only a few others had a problem with but the majority claimed there wasn't a problem. I bought two abyssus's and they both jittered on brand new cloth pads, you can google about 80% of people claim no jitter with their abyssus on the same pads and the rest claim it does jitter.

I'm just wondering, Is the majority not being as thorough in testing as I am or am I really getting a high percentage of defective mice shipped to me? thinking.gif

Got mine today, flashed to v32. Seems ok so far...no extra mousefeet either btw, ordered from CM store.

I think its a combination of both more strenuous testing and bad luck in quality control honestly..I hope you get a new one to retest instead of going for a refund though so we can see if it was a lemon situation or not.

Yeah definite skipping/negative accel on a black, smooth, hard mousepad. FW32, all DPIs, 500hz/1000hz tested. It's like the sensor just gives up, it stalls out about halfway across the screen.

Does not skip at speeds I can reach on the 'control' side of the hard pad (rocketfish pad from bestbuy), or at all on the cloth pad (Xtrac ripper)
