Looking for a new headset/headphones

Thread Starter
Just today I received my ASUS Xonar Xense and while I was not expecting much out of the PC 350 headset it has to be the worst one I have ever used. I want something that sounds similar or better than the HPX headset from turtle beach. I'm looking at the Sennheiser 595 as I've read many good things about it. Games I will be playing are call of duty and BF games. I just want sound to sound natural and with some decent bass. What I got from the PC 350 headset was very hollow and distance sound and no bass what so ever. I'm no expert when it comes to sound or headphones, so please excuse if I cant explain everything in greater detail. My budget is $150.

If you want bass: m50s, dt770s, dt880s.
If you want a large soundstage: AD700, most open cans? Never really looked at open before..

Its this one... I think they are almost in the same class with the STX/ST being a little better. The both have the headphone amp being one of the reasons I wanted it. Let me know how those M50's do for you they do seem to be in my price range.

M50s will not be good for gaming, especially for FPS type.

As for HD595s, purchase the HD555s unless of course, you like they're design. They share the same drivers. The only difference is aesthetics and the sticky foam attached on the inside grill behind the drivers on HD555s.

I have them both and can confirm that... Also, don't purchase HD598s thinking they will be different than the HD595s. They're not, in fact. They're 96% same headphones. Buy them only if you have loads of cash laying around.

Hope this clears things up a bit.

I wrote this HUGE reply on how awesome the Logitech G930 Wireless USB headset is... oh well... no time to rewrite... They are awesome. I had the G35 (wired) for a few years and the G930 is just even better.

Logitech G930 is the BEST headset, hands down, that I've ever owned.

edit: what a shame, that was a lot of effort in that reply i had :[

M50s bad for games?
I guess I'll have to hear for myself.

I actually have the G35 headset and have used it for the past year. And while its not a bad headset for gaming I was looking for something with better clarity, and maybe better sound positioning.

Hmm well I dont think you're going to find better sound positioning other than an actual 5.1 speaker setup. I also don't think there are many, if any, alternatives for good sound quality paired with excellent mic quality + features. The G930 is a bit better in many ways, however I'm not sure if it's better in sound quality (it's at least even with G35, I'll have to check at home, but my fiancee has my G35 now (in germany) so i cant do a direct comparison).

What are the other options you had in mind? I only know of Creative Labs World of Warcraft headset having positional sound other than Logitech.

Stay away from gaming headsets period. G930 and G35 use Dolby Headphones virtual surround, which can be used on any stereo headphones with an ASUS Xonar card. You'll have even better positioning because HD555 and AD700 have larger soundstages to begin with.
