Decent Upgrade for £600 - Page 2

Awesome Zang, Glad you increased your budget it's always more fun I'll always say every $50 more is a noticable performance increase, If done right anyway.

Think I asked you in your last thread but if you are anywhere near South East Manchester you can save huge money picking up.

Also scan has a nice daily deal section aswell. scan.co.uk "today only"

Sadly I live right in the south of England, so picking it up isn't really an option

Two day delivery for £8 really doesn't seem that bad in the scheme of things.

Thanks for all your help guys, I've just ordered it all (+ windows 7 pro x64bit) for £670.
Although i'm kinda dreading setting it up, just in case I ruin everything

I was extremely intimidated when I built my sig rig. <------

I actually had it hooked up right for 2 days before I had the courage to turn it on. I just assumed I had to of messed up something, lol.

Nothing like turning that power button first time though let me tell you.

For me i never cared about static!i have built 40+ PCs (only 3 for me,other for my dad,his office or other people (helping them not for money )).
But IT IS AN IMPORTANT thing and i did care for it in my last build listed down.
You can following guides. For me manuals+common sense always does the trick .

Thanks pteek, I was looking for a guide like that

Also, is an antistatic wrist strap necessary or will I be fine just touching the computer case every now and again?

You should be fine but there is always a chance, they only cost about $10 so its a good investment. $10 to avoid destroying your computer...

welcome. As molten said for 10$ you can avoid the chance. But i didn't use the strap i just "lost my static"(my English is poor, how to say that?i just get rid of the static? ) by touching my psu.Its body is grounded so i lost all my charge.
You should use the strap if you have a carpet in you home or at the place you will be assembling your pc.
Edit:Thanks for the reps

Wrist strap ain't necessary (and most people don't use them properly anyway). Just install the PSU first, plug it in to the wall but leave the switch OFF - hey presto, case is grounded, and you will be constantly touching that during the build so you're golden. Remember you would need to attach a wrist strap to something grounded already (usually either an earthed metal casing of something else plugged into a socket, or your central heating radiators) - so you might as well use the case you're working on.

Shame you've already ordered though - if you sign up to AVForums and post 20 times you get free delivery from Scan for any order over £20 ex VAT - which is nice, as 8 quid delivery mounts up if you order a few fans or so. Worth knowing, as 20 posts takes no time at all to do but you get something worthwhile. Just make sure you come back to OCN afterwards...
