Llano build for sure. It's exactly what she needs.

i can understand your thoughts on Nvidia, though i'm sure some AMD diehards might disagree about driver stability these days, but this:

i don't see how anything "dominating the market" is relevant to meeting anyone's needs. she plays RIFT and surfs the web, watches youtube.

don't mistake what i'm saying here. sandy bridge is clearly a powerful arch, but does she need it?

the recommendation above for a Llano build i think is also an excellent suggestion for her needs.

but hey, it's your money. buying the uber powerful stuff will certainly run RIFT and surf the web like no one's business, i suppose. if that's what you want to do, what do you need advice for? just buy the i5-2500k and be done.

Well he did ask for Intel as well but I get your point.

Remember she is using a laptop at the moment if she get interested because suddenly she is able to run games other than RIFT maybe she could become an serious gamer

Please. Please for the love of god tell me you're trolling.

I second Casz build he designed. Although maybe shoot for a 570 for a little more gaming power.

Light gaming and web browsing?

Your nuts if you go higher than an i3 build. Buy her a necklace with the $500 you save - you know she'll be happier with that...

he did, and that's why i'm asking. i'm just curious what he's thinking about it. maybe during the discussion he'll decide otherwise, or maybe he'll just be like "i just want one for her," which is also fine. =) it's his money. =)

room for growth is also a good reason. and RIFT is actually a poorly optimized game, so throwing more powerful hardware at it could possibly be a good idea.

i'm just in the business of trying to help people consider what they need moreso than what they may think they want.

personally, i'd aim lower and save the cash. but that's just me.
