Video card for HTPC?

Thread Starter
Well, I have some old parts lying around, and decided to build an HTPC out of them. Just missing a few pieces. Needs a video card, PSU, and HDD.

The cpu is nothing special, just an Athlon x2 6400, and I have 8gigs of memory for it. Just wondering if an 8800gt would be a good match for it for an HTPC, and maybe some light gaming on the tv with it. A friend of mine also has an 8800 Ultra that I might be able to convince him to part with. That might be a bit too loud for watching movies, though.

Also wondering what power supply I should get if I look into an 8800/9800gt.

A 8800GT should be fine for a HTPC. According to a PSU calculator i found, your system should use about 300w so a PSU that provides about that wattage should be adequate.

Might just grab a nice name brand 500w then, just for some headroom. 500w's are cheap.
