Recomendations for a new PSU

Thread Starter
I need some help choosing a new PSU for my rig since my current one shuts down during gaming.

I've been looking at these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207011 (850w)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139021 (750w)

Would these be enough if I add another 6870 for CrossfireX? I plan to buy it later on.

Thanks in advance!

Crossfire 6870s, a good 650w could handle that.

This one can do the job:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817207014

Out of the two you've linked, I'd say the Corsair one.

Thanks for the input. I was looking at the thread made by Phaedrus2129 and he recommends having a 900w PSU. Is the extra wattage just for extreme overclocking?

You must have misread the thread as two 6970s in crossfire maybe?

Two 6870s need 650w, that's it.

I checked it out, but it only has 2 6pin connectors. I need 4 of these for another 6870. (2 each)

I recommend this one its not modular but has all the connectors you need and extra wattage.

Ahh, you're right. I just noticed I was looking the the 6870x2 and not regular 6870. Thanks for the info!

Honestly though, supposing the Rosewill Green Series 700W can put out as much power as the 630W version (not a stretch at all I hope), it should be able to run Crossfire HD 6870s with no problem. If it's under warranty, maybe you should look into RMAing it.

If you don't mind using PCIe power adapters, a good deal would be the Antec Earthwatts Green 650W for $60 shipped, a bit down in quality from the units you originally linked but still very acceptable:
