Going from the forte to the titanium hd, i expected to have some improvements, most notably in the driver department. After reading that the drivers have been designed for w7, i was very optimistic. my first thought was, great, no more terrible slow loading creative apps! I was wrong. The applications load just as, if not slower than with my auzen forte, which shared the same software suite as its creative counterpart. Switching from audio creation to game mode showed no noticeable improvements. Still the same slow transition as before.
performance wise the card is everything that i'd come to expect out of creative's flagship. very good game performance and pretty good music playback. I have tested the card out with a few different set of cans, and for the most part fared well. My senn pc350s have a much more full sound with more punchy bass than with the auzen. Although it struggles to power my beyerdynamic dt990 250ohm, so I am planning on connecting an external amp (fiio e9) and hope to add some much needed power to push these.
I'm interested in other OCN members' experience with this card, and what type of setup you are using with it.

My audio creation mode had a hiss until I tried this setting, +rep. I'll probably step up to the HD at some point now that I have DT880/600s. @OP, the E9 is a great amp at a great price. Your 990s will love it.
I'm using the Titanium HD with a Fiio E9 and Beyer DT990 (600 ohm). The stock sound is pretty good for music playback, but once I upgraded the OP amps on the Titanium HD....music playback noticeably improved (tighter, punchier bass).
I previously owned the SB16, SB AWE 32 and the SB Audigy. After that time most motherboards had intergrated sound so I never really bothered looking into soundcards anymore. Recently I started reading up on soundcards here on Overclock.net and made up my mind.
Just got my Titanium HD 2 days ago. Totally satisfied with it. World of difference with onboard sound. Sound is just so much more clear and specific. Hearing things I never heard before (might be because i'm paying extra attention to it now though
). I'm using it in combination with a Steelseries Siberia V2.
I'm quite pleased with the sound of the Siberia, but i'm playing with the idea of selling it, since I just got a brand new one after RMA. So just gonna check out if there's any shops nearby where I can actually experience the difference with a decent pair of headphones.
Haven't had any driver-issues, nor have I been testing the different modes. So far I think it has been running in gaming mode. I wonder what the real difference is though, or is it just 3 different presets that could all potentially be configured the same way?
Got my HD a week or so ago. I paired it with my Carcharias and was very happy with the quality, coming from my crappy ExtremeAudio. I supposed better cans would make an even bigger difference, but I'm perfectly satisfied with my current ones.
I picked up a set of Klipsch Promedia's a couple days ago, as I was getting sick of showing somebody something on the computer and needing to have them use the phones. I'm very impressed with the combo the way it stands. I guess if I want better sound, I just turn to my home A/V 5.1 setup.
For watching the occasional movie or TV show on the PC, I am fairly impressed with the Dialog Plus feature. Really seems to bring vocal to the fore of the mix.

Set it and forget it. Why would you need to mess with it?
With bit-matched you lose the eq functionality though. And in audio creation mode you don't have the virtual surround which comes in handy during games.

I never found the equalizer particularly worthwhile on the X-Fi cards and virtual surround hasn't helped me with gaming but hinders it.
I have no technical problemo's. just buyers remourse because im cheap.
creative titanium hd and audio technica ath-a700 headphones sound great for me. my headphones and asus p8p67 pro motherboard onboard sound was not loud enough. Though i still use onboard line-in from tv cable box audio to listen to the tv while sitting on pc.
my logitech g35 headphones were plenty loud enough and i only bought the audio technica ath-a700 headphones and creative titanium hd sound card for my pc's prestige and epeen.
Is that the only speakers you are using ? I don't know much about them but I'm assuming that you run optical to that little box and it acts as a receiver. In that case it is questionable if you will gain anything over just using onboard optical out.
The Titanium HD is more of a high end headphone or 2.1 card that you can also use optical out to a receiver for another option. Not too many people would buy it just for the optical out though.
