Clean install of Win 7 64 questions

Thread Starter
Hey, I want to upgrade my windows vista 32 bit to windows 7 64 and I have some questions.

First my steam games. i have 3 hard drives and I have STEAM on my storage drive, when I install windows 7 on my LOCAL disk 1 will I need to format disk 2 and 3 or will the files on them be left untouched?

I have a overclocked q9450, will a clean install affect my OC or is it all saved on the bios?

When I do a clean install will I have to reinstall my MOBO drivers or will that be done automatically once Windows 7 is installed?

i have never done this, any other tips or tutorials are welcome, thx.

PC specs:

q9450 oc to 3.0ghz
4 gb corsair ddr2 800
ASUS P5E Deluxe Mobo
570GTX
600W psu
Drives: 750gb, 120gb, 2TB
Windows VISTA 32 bit

The OC is saved in the BIOS.
And when you do a clean install, it's recommended you nab the latest drivers from manufacturers website's. You should be fine with HDD 2&3

#1 no need to format the other hdds

#2 nope wont effect the OC

#3 Win 7 will install temp drivers...but be sure to install all the drivers for your mobo and vid card and whatever else u need

TBH. Just hit F12 or whatever it is and boot from the DVD drive.
No need to change anything in the BIOS.

Do not use the CD's that came with your motherboard. They will be outdated, just grab the latest from the ASUS website.

Just Chipset, LAN, Audio.
I doubt you need the utilities.

When you install Windows 7 as long as you don't reformat it will put the previous windows into a windows.old folder. You can then go into that folder and transfer files you wish to keep and then delete it with the disk cleanup thing.

As far as steam goes you can probably just install it back to that directory and it will just copy over the files and as long as the steamapps folder is still there all your games will remain installed with no need to re-download everything.

For drivers the basic drivers that come with windows 7 should allow for ethernet so you can download your drivers that way, or just download the most recent drivers and burn them to a disk or something. If you notice something is not working just check the drivers page for whatever you didn't install.
