Sapphire Tixx doesn't unlock voltage anymore.

Last December I had found out that Sapphire Trixx which had just came out was the only software that allowed me to voltage tweak my Non-ref Vapor-X 5870 graphics card.

At the time I had already overclocked my card so I didn't want to bother with it, but now when I decided to try and push the gpu a little bit more since the temperatures are always good and I believe I can get more out of it, I tied using the program but it doesn't seem to respond when I use the voltage slider.

This is extremely weird to me since the only things that I've changed since the time I discovered that it had unlocked my voltage control are that I changed my OS from 32 bit to 64 bit, added 2GB extra ram and I've updated my graphics drivers. The version of Trixx is the same as before.

I tried rolling back my graphics driver to the one I had at the time, but it didn't work. I also tried different versions of Trixx and that also didn't do anything.

At the time I had also made a thread on another forum explaining about my discovery and posted some images for proof. (just some nobody thinks that I'm imagining stuff lol).

I would really like to be able to tweak my voltage for a higher overclock so if anyone has experienced this or has any comments on it, please let me know.

I'm experienced with GPU BIOS flashing so if I can't get Trixx to work, I'd like to know get some advice on that since I thinking of just modifying the BIOS with a higher voltage and little by little tweaking it until I get the right voltage. I've already flashed my BIOS once for the overclock and I personally think that it should work with the voltage since I've already seen that it's physically possible to change the voltage.

There is another user who has been having this problem. I forget who, but he asked me to upgrade to the latest Trixx and so far it has retained my voltage adjustment capabilities. It may just be a software glitch because some people like me can still adjust it while others cannot. Maybe you could try using driver sweeper and completely getting rid of all of your drivers in safe mode and do a fresh driver install?

hey, thx for the reply, I guess I'll try the driver sweeper, and maybe download a few different versions of Trixx as well though I'm kind of skeptical at this point.

btw, what is your OS? maybe it's an issue with 32bit systems vs 64bit systems.

Okay I downloaded the latest Trixx and it looks like I can change voltage again.

I find this weird since I actually did try the latest Trixx not too long ago and it didn't work. Yet now it suddenly does again.

To check the voltage change I generally run a benchmark and have GPUz open along with Trixx and then while the card is being stressed I up the voltage meter and see if GPUz picks it up. It's a method that is sure to be accurate so I don't know why sometimes it works and others it doesn't.

You have to jiggle the plunger... Drag GPU-Z around real quick it will pick-up the changes you made. If not, it might appear to remain static.

I was also monitoring the voltage with the stress testing program (FurMark) so the voltage really didn't change.

Once again though, something weird happened. I closed Trixx after the first time after it's install, and now I reopened it again, and the voltage control is grayed out all together. If I click on the + and - nothing happens.

I use 64bit Win 7 FTW. It may be a glitch in 4.02 (most current version I think)

It has other glitches that suck like not retaining fan settings after shutdown. Hopefully they sort it out with a hotfix. I will PM that other user and ask if he is on 32bit but I kinda doubt it.

okay, yea I have the same OS, and FYI I downloaded a bunch of versions of TRIXX, like the last 4 most recent versions and non of them fixed it.

Tried uninstalling + registry clean and reboot before installing another version but it did nothing. It's such a mystery how a program can work 1 time and then suddenly it doesn't. I hope they get it stable soon.
