You should really read the BD blog/whatever. BD is much more than just a "same thing as before with MOAR cores for MAXIMUM POWAR!".

Whether that new design will work has yet to be seen.

Please. An eight core Phenom II would be faster than a 2600k. Unless you're like that idiot on xtremesystems ranting "IPC DECREASES! IPC DECREASES! IPC DECREASES!" Read up on the architecture. IPC increases to Nehalem≤ levels thanks to four pipelines per integer core, which is comparable to Nehalem and Sandy Bridge. The module design is basically a more efficient version of quad-core with HyperThreading. HyperThreading is like 1.3 cores, because it's inefficient. It's shoving more and more crap through the same pipelines, so while you do get extra threads they run much slower than real ones. Whereas the module design is like 1.8 cores in most tasks, because it has two separate integer cores (well, they share fetch/decode stage, but otherwise they are independent). And AMD has confirmed that the FX-8130P will cost $320.

Bulldozer will be faster than Sandy Bridge. I would bet $100 if I had $100 to bet.

Phenom II X2 555 scores ~7000 in Cinebench R10.5 multithreaded.
Phenom II X4 955 scores ~13000.
Phenom II X6 1090T scores ~18500.

So, a mythical Phenom II X8 would probably get somewhere around 23k.

The Core i7 2600k, too, scores somewhere around 23k.

That's not a 'Few' months away considering that few is typically used to indicate 'Two' or similar figures.
I believe Ivy will get new boards/sockets for the new chipset, but aside from that there has been no official word from Intel. We can be pretty sure Ivy has already been tapped out though at this point.

Also "few" indicates more than "two" since "couple" indicates "two" therefor since "couple" would be a term for "two" we can assume "few" indicates more than "two".

All that said even if it is 5-6 months after BD releases, that is not a long time in the grand scope of things. By the time bulldozer does come out, Intel will have had Sandy out for 9~ months... With a revision already on the way.

Maybe in multithreading, I wouldn't doubt it especially at stock. However in gaming I don't believe they've made any real improvement in per clock/per core performance over Phenom II because most of it was probably lost in the resource sharing.
