Computer room overhaul - Page 2

Okay, Comp2 is now online. I found another problem that I never thought of, though. I didn't realize that two of my dvd drives are IDE, so I'll have to grab two new Sata drives since none of my new motherboards have an IDE interface. They're cheap enough that I may just buy them locally instead of waiting for some off of the internet. I have a bunch of work to do the next few days, so I probably won't get to Comps 3 and 4 until early next week, but we'll see.

You don't get brand name pop when you come over to game. You'll drink Shasta and like it

haha shasta.. oh man..

looking nice. i'm kind of in the same situation as you--set up a spare room and built a nice wraparound desk in the room and a few computers in it.. makes it a lot easier to have friends over to play games since they either only have crappy laptops or are a bit too far away to drag all their stuff over.

Don't hate on the Shasta because I'm 100% serious I actually prefer it to Coke or Pepsi and it's cheaper. It recently went on sale for 50 cents per 2 liter, so I bought 100 of them!

A few parts showed up today. The 24" Acer turned out to be way nicer than I was expecting for $124 or so. It was definitely a new retail because the seal had never been broken and you could tell by the wrapping of it. Anyways, definitely impressed with that purchase. The Open Box 6950 for $164 also was a full retail, but the box had been opened. Every accessory, disc, and manual was included. Again, another great buy from the Egg Here's a couple of pics just in case anyone is curious...

It's funny that you mention that because if I vacuum when everything in my home theater(6 discrete amplifiers,2 subs, and a 63" plasma) is turned on, I can trip a breaker See, we're all in the same boat!

I bought a portable 18k btu AC unit with the intention of using it for the few days where we hit 90+ in the Summer, but we've had a mellow Summer. The computer room has a large window and I have a remote control fan that moves decent air through the room, so it's actually not that hot with the exception of about 1 week of Summer. If/when that week ever arrives, I'll get to try out the portable AC unit I bought on clearance (yes,i'm cheap).

Edit: With that said, remember that I'm judging everything by my old computers. I haven't gamed yet with 3GTX480 and 1 GTX580 in their yet and we all know that GTX480 are easy bake ovens.
