AMD 565 BE Unlock?

Thread Starter
Is it possible to unlock the AMD 565 BE using the MSI 870U-G55 AMD 770 AM? It has the unlocking feature on the board, but anyone know or have any success unlocking this?

Thanks!

Why not try it out? Bring everything else to stock (RAM, CPU Core, CPU-NB, etc.) just to make sure that you're only testing the unlock itself.

Yes but due to vrms unlocking on that board is a very bad idea
Many can speak for me here

There is a good chance it will unlock but if it unlocks then it will consume twice the power, mine goes to 160 watts and 180 watts overclocked

My friend doesn't mind if it consume a lot of power. He just want to see if it unlocks to a quad-core.

????^

Anyways. Like xd said, unlocking it isn't a good idea especially for those vrms. But if you insist, install some vrm heatsinks like those made by enzotech. I think they're called "mos c1's". It also helps to undervolt/clock the cpu. Don't expect the cpu to unlock, as its a crapshoot.

The "consuming a lot of power" part may cause motherboard VRM failure. According to my own observations, the many MSI 870 series motherboards (all of which have identical and problematic VRM design whether unheatsinked or underneath any heatsink) have the highest failure rate compared to other boards, with any higher power consumption CPU - whether it be x4, x6, x2 unlocked to x4.... stock or OCed.... without or even with VRM cooling.

You don't want to end up like this guy.
Or any one of the 100+ (I think by now) people I have listed in the "About VRMs & MOSFETs/Motherboard safety" thraed (see sig) to have gone through a VRM failure - many on the MSI 870 series boards.

Practice safe computing!

As for unlocking.... that is an undefined/unmeasured chance and a bonus and really nothing more.

Not true, its quite literally a 50/50 chance with all the chips I've had. Sometimes unlocking may depend on the cpu's stepping code. Some have have chances and some have lower chances. Even if the cpu does unlock and pass post, it might not be stable. Its a good idea to stress test the unlocked cores under prime95 for stability before you begin using it.
