Well Intel will be getting more money from me once the new LGA2011 chips are out in Q4. Time to finally get an Extreme edition proc since I can finally afford one.

Now if only AMD could lift their game and give some real competition so Intel actually have someone other than themselves to compete against. Atm its like Michael Phelps swimming in the Special Olympics.

Yes and IBM makes you license the cores on the processors you buy from them. Yes it is true. We were looking at replacing our AS/400 infrastructure at my company. You buy a 4 core Power 7 chip. You then license the cores on the chip. So you could have a 4 core but only pay for 1 and a half. Hur dur derp de dur. Talk about license hell. They make Microsoft and VMware look like saints.

IBM is huge. Intel of course being the much larger than AMD,44billion vs. 6 billion makes AMD's revenue look like nothing. Intel has loads of money for R&D,AMD does not. K8 has performed well for being from 2003 without any drastic changes to its architecture. The other guys could make K8 run as fast as Nehalem if they had the funds to do so.

Would their GPU departmnent have anything to do with how much they can spend on making better CPU's? I think a lot of people are expecting too much out of Bulldozer, however I think it will at least be as fast as Nehalem Core i7. I'd really like it to kick ass if not..

Well in all honesty, all AMD needs is APU, GPU and the server market. If the server CPU's kick ass in performance and price and they get much more server market share they would make a ton more money, corporate is where a lot of the money is at. Although i am looking forward to the FX 8 core CPU's bring back the good days of the beast.
