System crashing on my gfs new PC

Thread Starter
So I built my girlfriend a new PC the other day, and I've been having some issues.

First, if I put the computer to sleep, it crashes and I have multiple issues, like my graphics drivers become corrupt, or the computer loops system repair.

And then today, the PC just shut down and is now looping start up repair.

I have no idea whats causing the issue. It dont think its hardware related, as I havent had a blue screen of death, and when it works, everything seems to be working fine.

The specs are;

ASUS P8P67 Motherboard
Intel i5 2500 CPU
Strontium RAM 1600mhz 2x4GB sticks
ASUS Radeon 6950 2GB DDR5
CoolerMaster 700W Silent Pro PSU
Hitachi 2TB HDD
Windows 7 64-bit OS

Im wondering if it's something to do with the 64-bit OS, I do have a 32-bit windows 7 here, and am considering installing that, but what do you guys think?

Ok, I seem to have fixed the issue.

I installed 32-bit Windows 7.

And was getting a BSoD everytime I put it to sleep, due to Internal Power Failure.

I found theres a switch on the mobo that regulates power automatically, the EPU switch.

Turned that bad boy on and it seems to be happy with life now.

She now has a total of 3.5GB of RAM. Major loss there.

Well, there is that.

I think she'd prefer a stable system with less RAM then an unstable one with more though.

Any idea why 64-bit was being unstable? Corrupted driver download/install maybe?

I'm not sure. It could be the power issue was happening on the 64-bit OS as well. But I just want to see how it goes for now before I reinstall it, just in case its another issue unrelated to the OS.

I am not sure why but I would still run memtest 86 too make sure the ram is okay.

I actually would have suspected the ram and possibly manually set the timings and voltage.I may be way off,but I would run memtest. Now that your system can't use both sticks too the fullest they aren't failing.Failing memory can cause all sorts of instability issues, but it is true you would expect a bsod.

Well, the only time I got a BSoD was when I had 32-bit and it said it was a power issue.

I might have to get someone to have a look at it at some point, cos Im not sure how to check for faults like that, sadly.
