Steam - TF2 Issues

Hey guys,

I have a 8800GT 512mb and I've played TF2 quite well with GREAT fps (more than 60fps with everything on high).

3 days ago I updated my really old drivers to the new 275.31 or something from NVIDIA, that's when issues started to happen. My FPS dropped to 30-50 with the same settings and now, TF2 doesn't quite open normally. I removed the drivers and installed the 270.61 which are suppose to be really good.

TF2 still doesn't open normally. Sometimes I clicked it, and it doesn't open, in the task manager it appears with like 14,000k in memory and nothing else. Some other times it opens and stays frozen in "LOading"...I'm tired of "defragmenting" TF2 files or validating them...Can't think of anything else (AND i really dont want to erase TF2 since 9GB to download it's like 3 days in my country).

Most likely an issue with custom content or corrupted settings, do the following:

1. Delete your \\steamapps\\<your profile>\eam fortress 2\\ and delete the TF folder.

2. Open Steam, right click TF2, and then verify your game files.

3. Launch the game.

Note that deleting the TF folder will delete all custom content you've downloaded (sounds, maps, etc). It resets the game to default.

Nope, didn't work at all...

Right click TF2>Launch Options> type "-autoconfig" (without the quotations).

If that doesn't work your only option is reinstalling. Does it suck? Yeah. However, at least you'll be able to play the game.
