1998 PC! [PICS] [Full restore! Ideas?]

Hi guys.

I went go get some cables on the big old box of cables and I finally hit the bottom of it and I was surprised when I found this relic:

As you can see it's a mess. It havent seen any cleaning or cable managemente since...since..

Oh! 1998 then.

I need to check this HD if there is any files I want to save before tackling this parts with compressed air and alcoholl baths. I'm exhausted so I'll save the disassembly to tomorrow sorry guy.

This case is very nice! I dont know if this is alluminum or a really brushed steel. You cant see on my crappy iPhone camera but its shiny.

Its all modular. Rodney Reynolds would love this: The motherboard tray IS REMOVABLE!

Rear IO. Not really anything at the MB other than a couple of parallel and a serial port. And A ps2 port (Its up. not caught in the pic). Below are the VGA port for the graphics card and the connectors for the sound card and a network card.

You can see my TRIDENT graphics adapter (Under it there is a USB card which is not connected anywhere, I dont think this MB even has USB):

And my massive Creative Sound Card:

The pentium MMX something cooler. This MB has a really different layout then what we are used too. I dont even know the brand. I'll know it when I hook it up:

The disgusting PSU: 2 cables. One is a I dont know how many pins to the mb and a couple of molex. And the other cable(the black one) goes straight to the power button. Pretty unusual this days:

The cover slides completely (Pretty easy for modding, but its a little warped).

I'm a first time modder so this will probably suck, but will be a fun ride! So I don't know exactly what to do it right now. I'm thinking about painting it with a phoenix theme since its literally risen from the ashes of dust. Also add a window on the side panel with some lights and cable sleeving so anyone can see how a PC looked like in 1998 kinda like a museum piece, maybe that could be a theme? What you guys think? I'm having a lot of fun with this so far. Its all so much different. In 1998 I had no idea what PC was supposed to look like and was only worried about watching Tom & Jerry and stuff

TOMORROW THERE WILL BE DISASSEMBLED PICS WITH A BETTER QUALITY CAM(Battery is recharging).

Thanks for reading! All the best! Have a nice day!

I just modded together an old P4 rig for a co-worker. It was terrible since the case was from a server and had no mounting feature for an ATX motherboard, so it's held in place with PCI-slot covers for the back of the panel. =D

The whole thing is completely modded, but looks nice. I'm sure you'll do well with this rig!

I would take every component apart that you possibly can to clean them out. You don't want to start any fires with all of those stored dust bunnies!

I will dont worry! Apparently everysingle piece of metal in this case is hold with screws. Even the front panel. No rivets whatsover. So it's like a modders dream haha. Cant wait for tomorrow. Gotta go to the hardware store pick up some compressed air and a couple of tools.
