Is there a water block for the gtx 570 classified. The reason for not choosing a ref card is that I'm afraid of it blowing up.

yes, I contacted ek and they said there reference blocks should work with this card. They visually inspected teh pcb and it is reference style. Also, the classified IS a reference pcb. Only with the 2-missing phases intact. So essentially, it is a 580 pcb.

edit: my 570's are reference, no problems at all. Nothing wrong with reference 570's.

are you sure about this ? ,i talk to Jacob from eVGA and he said that it's a no go
the Classy PCB is different than vanilla
BTW agree ..rocking my vanilla 570 for 7 months and loving it

Based on their pics, its still sporting the Turbine cooler, which to me would not make sense for evga to make a unique turbine cooler to fit a non reference 570 when they already make a new pcb design 570 (fan in the middle, shorter, and power on the back).

the Classy still looks reference to me, especially when a cooler that looks exactly like the reference one that is on it

agree, both PCB's look almost identical (i was only compering Neweeg pics =not enough to convince me tho ) .I wish there was review/picture with the heatsink off,i would like to SLI both if i could strap on Aqua block on it
P.S. evga forum-they mention something about holes not lining up for the EVGA 580 backplate,so i can't tell for sure

I surely would not rely on EVGA forums. When I asked if their 570 2.5gb was the same pcb design as the 570 HD, no answer other some nice members just speculating. Though they suggested to wait for an EVGA staffer to answer, I went ahead and emailed EVGA support and EK support. After waiting a week, no answer in the forums or email form EVGA support. I did get a reply from EK support saying that their proposed block for the 570 HD should match the 2.5gb since they have the same pcb design just using double density vram modules.

Since the 580 has more vrm, updating the 570 with more vrm (6 for the Classy) shouldn't make it all together a non-reference. They did the same with the 580 3gb, just changed the vram chipsets.

That's exactly why i didn't pull the trigger on second vanilla and yes i don't buy this "no go" unit there is some more info floating around (i know they will have eVGA~"Swiftech block for this card....),same with EK FC 480 it will work with all ref. GTX 480/570/580

@OP you can get Vanill or Classy ,just remember .. Classified will let you OC much higher and i think both have lifetime warranty

I got an email from ek, and they said "I am familiar with that pcb. It must work."

I also visually inspected the pcb myself (pictures on newegg), and it is identical to the ftx 580 pcb.

I think Jacob at evga told you it wasnt reference pcb because technically it isnt. But it is an identical layout.

OP: I strongly suggest you get on newegg and open the classified images and also a reference 580, and compare the back of the pcb yourself. You can never be to careful when making purchases of this amount. But to my knowledge they are identical. So any gtx 580/570 full cover block designed for reference pcb's should work.

EDIT: I just double checked. There is 1 small difference in the pcbs, but it is by the display ports and is out of range for the block. This will not effect the mounting of the block. I am 99% positive full cover block will work. I looked over every square centimeter of that pcb.

Personally, Id save some money and go vanilla. I overclock mine up to 925mhz core at 1100mv, with no problems. Solid card. And almost $100 cheaper (newegg open box). Technically mine arent reference (msi twin frozr II) but it is a reference style pcb and I had no problems with installing my full cover blocks. And no problems with vrms.
