[EGDF]Halo Anniversary Demo Analysis

The recent release of new Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary footage allows us to get our first good look at how the game really looks and performs, and puts into focus just how much of a good job Saber and 343 Industries have done in visually revitalising the title that many see as the coming of age of first person shooters on console.

Key to the appeal of the game is the ability to switch - in real-time - between the original Halo visuals and a new, "remastered" graphical facelift. 343 Industries say that the game effectively runs two engines simultaneously: a direct port of the original Halo CE code, with a new renderer layered on top, providing a substantial graphical upgrade that the developers hope makes the game visually competitive with the best shooters on the market today.

...so that's what my brother has been working on.

Neat.

It almost looks worse. Halo 1 textures were well planned and not just thrown no top of things. H1:A looks more slapped together.

First thing I noticed was how it flew through the loading screen. Those things could literally take 2 minutes on the original one >.<<br />
Graphics swap is an interesting concept. I'm just excited to be back in blood gulch (along with other online stuff like co-op) biggrin.gif Though I'm sad none of the Custom Edition maps/extra vehicles (longsword, scarab, etc) are being included frown.gif that would be pretty awesome

That's what Halo PC is for. Custom Edition is still ridiculously awesome, shame there aren't more people for the larger maps.

Yeah, but I'd still have liked to see the implementation. I don't really care that much about the graphical overhaul, I still have plenty of fun and nostalgia over the original Halo. Kinda sad the series didn't see the same success on the PC :/

I personally think this game is deserves the renew. Me and my buddy's still play halo ce at our lan party's regularly. It has the most stable gameplay of any FPS and is beyond fun even when your losing.
