Not sure what you classify as "high performance" and the total power draw is what matters, not just voltage.

I am not a AMD or a Intel fanboy just get whichever is the best at the time. AMD Fusion is a wide-range of desktop, laptops so your point will be invalid which is better as it will be too broad of products in the AMD Fusion line.

A APU is much better at Media Transcending than dedicated Graphics Card whether it is AMD or Nvidia. Also a APU will be better at doing certain tasks than also a dedicated Graphics Card as it will be less latency.

Ivy Bridge isn't just a die-shrink as it is more of a tick-plus and that it will include in the new line of Motherboards that will come with it PCIE 3.0, USB 3.0 native support and other things.

Now AMD hasn't gotten the Bulldozer out yet so we don't know what it will be like.
It's not an APU. There's a difference between being an APU and just having the graphics on-die.

Also you just said 20% faster than the current IGP, then you call me a fanboy because I say it will suck. 20% faster than the current IGP is still 2x slower than the 6550D.

And, okay, you have the option to use IB with a new chipset.

AMD's volts =/= Intel's volts.

I can go past 1.55v on air with full load temps staying below 70C and power consumption staying low.

By the way, a 1090T draws about 150W. A 2600k draws about 130W. Not bad for a previous-gen processor with more cores.

meh dont know why all the fuzz about this, for the incredible performance a 4 core SandyBridge gives, I might just throw in whatever is compatible with P67 1155, if its a 4 core IB I dont care, still will gave what ? 15-20% increase performance over an already good chip?

For gaming and even multitasking thats WIN. we cant deny a 2600k is very good for multitasking aswell.

"Ivy bridge 22nm processors have also been detailed in the chart to release in early Q2 2012 (March – April) while rumors also suggest that Intel would release i7 2800K and i5 2700K CPU’s for its current LGA1155 lineup."

That would be my next chip if its true!

I've decided.

I'm going to wait out Sandy Bridge E instead of picking up a 1155 setup.

See how pricing on the 3930K will be then decide if the extra cores are worth it.

I think SB-E will be big win for intel
But lets go more real term

Let say
i5 2600K gets 5200 iggydogg Points for single thread
i7 3960X gets 6000 ID's for single thread
i7 3980X gets 8900 ID's for single thread

i5 2600K will score 20100 ID's for Multithread
i7 3960X will score 33179 ID's for Multithread
i7 3980X will score 48375 ID's for Multithread

@ Stock

For Comparison i7 980x gets 5300 ID's for single thread

I don't know the performance of i7 3980X
4-IPC to 8-IPC seems to be a improvement on IPC
So, I included the improvement as best as I could

i7 3980X could actually score higher for all we know, there is more factors than just the cores ability to push out IPC

and people buy when Performance/Power are very high

and based on the speculation of Multithreaded performance...i7 3980X is a big win win scenario

i7 3980X will super-duper

this is just an homage to my fav funposter S

What is the difference between APU and Graphics on-die than?
Isn't a APU a GPU+CPU on the same die or are you going to go that if it doesn't have dedicated Graphics RAM that isn't a APU. Well than I believe the solution to that problem is solved in a later generation - Ivy Bridge.

I said and I quote:
Quote:
Ivy Bridge is expected a 30% improvement over current Sandy Bridge Graphics and a 20% improvement over core-performance.
Where are you exactly getting this evidence that a unknown yet-to-be-release is slower by what you call "2x slower than a 6550D". Comparing AMD's A8-3850/3800 to Intel Ivy Bridge is quite bold statement when Intel hasn't release it yet. You could have said that Intel Sandy Bridge is slower than AMD 6550D but you had to say that is slower than Ivy Bridge.

Now for the Ivy Bridge I just with the current information that I am seeing is do a UEFI update and just pop-in new APU if I want to. Now for AMD's solution you would need to get FM2 motherboard if you want the next generation but that shouldn't be a problem as they are normally not that expensive.

IPC does not increase from SB -> SB-E, the only single-threaded boost will be the extra cache (minimal)

And you think the 980X is faster in single threaded than the 2600k?

And those numbers are completely random, when I made a similar post I was referring to core scaling and clock speeds.

And guessing IPC based on absolutely nothing is a terrible idea

I hope this post was a joke I'm not getting
