Whats your boot time from pushing power button to opening a program?

Just wondering how my rig compares to others for boot time

Im measuring the time from the second I hit the power button until I open an internet browser to google (or the computer is otherwise usable)

I do it this way because some computers are laggy after the windows desktop appears and wont respond to commands or clicks right away.

My rig takes 27 seconds using the above criteria, most of that time being spent in the bios. actual windows load to open program time is probably <10 seconds

This is somewhat biased to how long your bios takes.

I've never timed it.. feels quite quick compared to some computers that I use at work, (our work computers take a good few minutes to start up) but I will time it next time.. might be interesting time.

My laptop "sig"

From hitting button to being fully booted and msn and crome opening is 18 seconds
post #9 of 32
Okay I take my statement that it felt quick back..it took 1:08.6 to get to windows login then another 50 secs to open & use Chrome. Alot longer then it feels...so I believe my machine started slower on purpose because I was timing it. That is my excuse

Now jealous of that start up time.

power on to windows 7 boot up - 11 seconds

Windows 7 Boot up to Windows Logon - 9 seconds

Windows logon to desktop - 3 seconds

Desktop to startup applications - 18 seconds.

Total - 41 Seconds.

OCZ Vertex 2E 60GB (11.8GB Free)

Anyhow......... Windows Logon - Desktop (3 seconds) I can click on Internet Explorer which pops up instantly to Google, Whilst all my Start-Up applications are still loading.
