OS boot up: 15 seconds
IE boot: 0 seconds

0 because by the time I see my desktop it's already open lol.
Depends on a few settings for me.
bios: 10-15 seconds
os selection screen: 30 sec timeout, if I'm still sitting here 1 sec to choose os.
boot to a usable win7 desktop: 10 seconds
total:25-60 seconds

If I'm using splashtop it takes about 5 seconds! But it's so limited in functionality I never use it.

About 200 seconds from power button to IE or My Computer on my more powerful rig. Intel Pentium IV @ 2.53GHZ FTW. A half a gig of RAM at 400mhz helps too.

XP takes about 30 seconds and 7 takes about 90 seconds. XP is on my SSD and 7 is on mt old spinner and I have no programs auto- starting to slow things down. I have a multi-card reader that I unplugged because it took around 30 seconds to clear all by itself. My last board was a Biosatar A870U3 with this same gear on it and it was even faster- I timed my XP fireup on it right after I got my SSD and clocked one startup at 17 seconds to desktop. This ASUS has about twice as many bells and whistles on it and the post takes more time than that before I get the XP/Win7 prompt.

Question: I have my c300 ssd and 1tb segate on the intel controller on my board. the bios searches for drives on the marvell controller first. If I change my drives over to the marvell will I gain the ~6 seconds it takes to search for a drive on the marvell?

I know I could just try...but...so...lazy... any thoughts?

and SSD ftw x2. IMO theres no point to having a sandybridge without a ssd. as you can see from the boot times people are posting it looks like a ssd takes up to 30 seconds off a boot.

Damn asus and marvell bios take 67% of my boot time.

Also my work computer is so bad I start it up and go do something else for atleast 5 mins. Even after the desktop appears its useless for atleast another minute or 3. I F ing hate McAffe corprate antivirus.

You can disable the Marvell controllers in the BIOS. I don't use them but during boot I still get 2 splash screens. The first one, then a blank screen (where the previous Marvell searching screen would be) and then a second one that doesn't last as long. The gap inbetween is still there, but it doesn't take as long now. I can't access the UEFI on the first splash screen though, has to be the second. Weird
