Why do I prefer iPad when it comes to video playback and gaming?

Thread Starter
I had past experience with many android tablets as well as the iPad (The fist one) and I must say that when it comes to high bit rate MKV files the iPad does not lag like the Android tablets do. I am talking about tablets suck as the ASUS Transformer and the Viewsonic G Tablet, both Tegra 2 which as far as I know is the top performer. The iPad on the other hand has smooth video playback no matter what you put on it.

Also, I don't know about you guys but another reason I prefer iPad over Android tablets is gaming. The iPad has a large selection of games that look awesome for a tablet. CoD Zombies, Real Racing, Infinity Blade, Dead Space, Rage, Galaxy on Fire, GTA Chinatown Wars, and Brothers in Arms are a few games that make me think the iPad is a much better gaming tablet.

I am not trying to start a flame war. Yes I know that the iPad is a bit more expensive and that Android offers much more customization options but when it comes to video and gaming, iPad is the winner for me. It confuses me that iPad receives a lot of hate on this forum when to a gamer and movie watcher iPad is better. Am I missing something?

Thing is... iPad just works. No questions. I support your opinion.

See, I my experience with regard to video is the opposite. The iPad requires conversion on everything I put on it, my tab 10.1 hasn't. It also has a better video screen. No question the iPad is a better gamer. That's why I have both wink.gif

iPad has a fix hardware, so it's easyer for programmers to make games, because they know the hardware.

Android has many hardwares, some better than iPad and other weaker, but debelopers doesn't really know on wich hardware are they working on.

Luckly, Android Tablets are comming with Tegra CPU's, so developers know how to programm for them.

Also, I can play with emulator + PS3/Xbox 360 gamepads on my Asus Transformer, without rooting (jailbreaking) it, use keyboard + mouse, or connect it on TV using the HDMI.

This is the situation with most apple devices. It can almost be thought of like apple = console, android = PC.

I like that android can pretty much play every file type on planet earth, while osx needs certain formats.

Not quite since the iPad 2 has the most powerful graphics chip on the market, so far. In terms of gaming potential, the iPad 2 is the PC tongue.gif

Until Tegra 3, that is.

Oh wait, Qualcomm too with a 2.5 GHz quad in 2013. :3

When's Tegra 3? And what GPU does it use? Apple can always boost the graphics performance later too tongue.gif

Nvidia says it's a 12-core GeForce GPU which boosts it to 5 times the capability of Tegra 2. Does full 2560x1600 HD-out without any hiccups on video, games and Honeycomb when demoed.

Tegra 3 will be out by the Christmas season. tongue.gif
