I can only find reviews about HD6950 DirectCUII 2GB. Do you think having half of the GDDR and 1 slot thinner cooler, 1GB version would have noticeable differences in performance, temperatures or noise? It's priced at 231,00€. DirectCU HD6850 is priced at 159,00€, DirectCU HD6870 at 173,00€ and MSI HD6870 Twin Frozr 3 (Hawk) at 189,00€. Is any of those a good deal?

You're at 1900x1200 resolution. You want at LEAST a 1.25GB card. If you're only looking at AMD cards, then your minimum should be the 2GB 6950 if budget allows (since every other AMD card is 1GB below that).

I can fill up my VRAM easily (1.5GB) at 1920x1080...a lesser resolution than you have.

There doesn't seem to be that much games that will utilize 2GB much better than 1GB, thus the performance gain seems negligible (and that's with far higher res than mine):

I'm not sure about the 2-slot cooler though, 3-slot DirectCUs have been awesome, but I can't find any tests on 2-slot DCII cooler.

I have pretty much decided that I'll go with MSI HD6870 Twin Frozr 3 (Hawk Edition). Seems to be quiet, run cool and has plenty of overclockability.

I've been also thinking about getting Intel 320 Series 40GB SSD for my OS and then 2x1TB WD Caviar Blue drives for games/media/misc data. Sounds good? I can still change my order if needed.

I have one more question though:

The fans (Arctic Cooling F12s) have only 400mm cable length, but my case depth being near 500mm I obviously won't have enough cable from the rear fan to my Lamptron controller in the front panel 5.25" slot. I should get some kind of an 3-pin fan cable extensions, I assume?
