Is this artifacting? Weird flashy squares

I'm wondering what this is. This just started popping up in Crysis 2. The card is not overheating and is getting to maybe 68 under load. I'm using a Sapphire 5970 2gb.

I've checked different settings such as Catalyst AI and it's made no difference. I don't notice it in other games and I see no artifacting when I run Furmark.

It's honestly weird to me. I've never seen any artifacting quite like this before. Oh, and at times the squares are white.

Any input would be most appreciated. Many thanks. Here is the Video of the effect:

Are you running the DirectX 11 patch? If it doesn't do it in other games its probably that!

I am, but why would it have just started when I've been playing the game for 2 weeks?

The problem too is I can't use DX10 as it gives really weird refresh issues. It stays at 60hz, (I know there's a bug where a lot of folks hit lower than 60hz, mine seems to actually stay at 60hz as intended...) but with Vsync on or off it's really "shimmery" ala refresh issues.

From my testing so far I'm only able to use DX11 w/ Sync. Should I try reinstalling without Dx11?

Is it just it certain locations or is it there all the time?

Seems to be there all the time.

It doesn't occur in DX10 mode from my testing... but I still get the completely unplayable screen "shimmer" or "flicker".
I don't know if it's refresh related or not, but when I was originally troubleshooting THAT issue I tried Cat 11.3, 11.6, and a much older set and it didn't help. Vsynch did help but only in DX11 heh. I'd rather have the game run playably in DX10 mode honestly it runs better.

Edit: And after I settled on 11.3 w/ Vsync I reimaged the machine, so this should be a fresh enough driver install

Yes, that is artifacting but if it isn't happening in other games I would be willing to bet that its a driver issue. Crysis 1 actually artifacts with AA and had done that on several systems with AMD cards for me. There was a decent sized thread at Rage3d with a few games that had would artifact on AMD cards.

I know that it sucks but I wouldn't really worry about it. It sounds like a driver issue to me.

definitely artifacts; is your card OC'd? if I were you, I'd test the stability of the card with a couple minutes of kombuster extreme burn-in. just because your other games aren't artifacting doesn't mean that it's not an issue with your card (although it could certainly be a driver issue with Crysis 2). still, to be sure you should test your card. I had a similar issue with an unstable overclock where only two of my games were showing artifacts and locking up, but it turned out to be the card, not the drivers.

This could be a driver issue or an unstable overclock. My OC was stable in a bunch of stuff till I did some Metro2033 on it and it artifacted. So maybe reset stock clocks and try it?

Thanks for the help.
I finally got the game working in Dx10 mode and still had the same issue. I'm assuming it's a hardware issue as I tried with 11.6 as well with the same results.

The card is starting to it's age anyway, so I'm getting replacements and will just RMA/Sell it.

This is why I don't buy things on ebay or from random forum users.
