Ok well i can rule out driver problems it just happened again while i was writing a new post here.

The keyboard is unresponsive as well. I might be the CPU...

Check your BIOS and make sure all the CPU power saving features are enabled. It's a known issue that disabling the power saving features of the 2600k can cause issues during idling. Also it might be worth switching out your DVI cable (or whatever you use to connect to your monitor).
