Update on my efforts to tune this rig: I postulated that the lower memory timings (7-7-7-18) were keeping me from upping the memory frequency above 988 so I tried to "loosen" them to something between the 9-9-9-24 and 7-7-7-18. I took a wild guess and decided to try 8-8-8-20. This seemed like a decent center between the other two. Here are the results:

This is by far the best performance that I have seen. All of the ratings are better, and just for the sake of comparison, my HWinfo rating jumped up to 4580, from a starting point of 3500 at auto settings. How do these new ratings compare with your rig(anybody)? Should I be satisfied with what I have now, or should I keep trying? Will cranking up the NB speed more give me a further boost?confused.gif The memory Speeds seem fairly good now, but the Latency still seems kind of high from some of the things I have seen posted here.

I have tinkered with this memory for a couple of weeks now and have managed to get it to run @ 1333 (it is 1060rated) with 8-8-8 22 timings. This is about as fast as I can make this go I think. I experience a very small freeze/lag in a couple of the heavier graphic games I have. I am thinking about getting 4 Gigs of much faster memory and putting this 8gig set as the secondary. I am seriously looking at 2 sets right now. The first is 7 latency @1600 Mhz, and the second is 9 latency @ 2000Mhz. From my limited knowledge of memory timings I think the 2000 Mhz stuff @ 9 latency should be faster than the 1600 @ 7.

Which one of these memories would you go for? Keep in mind I intend to go with a Zambezi/BD in the next year. 4 or 8 core I am unsure of. In light of this should I go for the higher clock speed stuff since the Z(BD) chips can utilize it better (so I hear)? This Mobo is supposed to support the 2000 speed memory, and i do see the option in the settings.

Here is a third option, This is 2000@9 . This is at Frys, so I could go pick it up. Good deal after the mega rebate, but a few more bucks out of pocket up front,
