Debating between 3 keyboards

Hi Hi,

I am debating between 3 keyboards right now and was hoping to get some input from OC.

Model M Keyboard (Dell/Lexmark) Part No: 1397651 $60

Dell Model: AT101W FCC ID: GYUM90SK $40

Model 101 Keyboard (Dell) FCC ID: GY1A101-102 $50

I am mostly using this for work and gaming (SC2). I don't think i am typing fast enough to be to concerned with NKRO and suspect none of them have NKRO. I think I am leaning toward the model M as it has had such a strong reputation over the years and I think I would like the spring buckles better but with the AT101W I would have the keyboard lay out I am used to with windows key and the key that is the equivalent of the right key on my mouse.

I am also considering holding off and getting something more modern as well.

any input would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

IIRC the Model M is 2RKO. Buckling springs are supposed to be one of the best feeling switches of all time and I think there's a fair chance you would probably enjoy them more than the black ALPs.

Model M BS for sure... Yes its only 2KRO but if your just typing and playing sc2 that should be fine. I use a Topre, which I love, but BS are super nice to type on IMO too (I like a heavy non linear switch).

While buckling springs without a doubt do feel better, the AT101W is also a fantastic keyboard and feels great and is really solid. I've played a good amount of SCII on it and never had a problem. Pretty sure its 3-4KRO.

Also, 2KRO on the Model M may be a slight problem in SCII. Shift-ctrl-(number) comes to mind.

Sorry for this noobie question but with 2KRO I wouldn't be able to use the Ctrl + Alt + Delete function in windows to access the task manager?

Not all 3+ key press combos will work. Some will. Its hard to say without trying it, or finding someone who has.

The Dell AT101W is 2KRO, just like the Model M. I've played a good bit of SC2 on Model Ms (and other games) without issues.

The terminology is a bit confusing, and it's not helped by the incorrect explanation in the guide on the forum. 2KRO means that the keyboard can correctly register all combinations of 2 keys. It can also register combinations of 3 or more keys, however, it cannot register all of them. This is the way that 99% of keyboards behave.
