Need some HTPC advice.

Heya guys...Need some HTPC advice.

I just finished running some cable for a locker room and their request is to integrate the entire system VIA one 50" in the locker room and they also want it split to the "gym"...Gym has 2 50" LCD's.

I tried running everything from their current server (Oracle/Apache build) and it's not only sluggish but, it looks like crap...

I have the server set up to record their games and accept digital media etc. So, on that end, I'm hunky dory...They can upload whatever they want in whatever format and it will play...However when I try to run it from the server, it looks like crap.

I need an HTPC that can handle a 50" and any media I could possibly throw at it.

"They" also prefer that each has a Blu Ray because "they're" honestly too lazy to walk to the server room and pop a CD in but, in their defense, it's 30 feet away and truly looks terrible.

I don't care what the OS is...My budget is about 1200$ total so about 500$ per "room".

Any advice/insight would be well appreciated. Ty.

do you want to build or buy an off-the-shelf solution?

My understanding of off the shelf is that there is no Blu Ray capability so, I believe my best option would be building both...

I'm not opposed to that but, if there's a solution where I could buy 2 off the shelf units and just swap the drives, that would work as well.

not a huge fan of dell, but if you want the easy way out... you can get a Zino HD that plays Blu-Ray's for $500.00 each... just throwing it out there.

I'd roll with:

i3-2100 ($100)
Cheap 1155 mobo ($50-60)
4gb ram ($40)
GTS450 or 5750 (that might be overkill) $80
$40 PSU (500w)
$40-50 sata hard drive
$50 blu ray read drive
$40 case with fans

Install an old image of vista, then get the win7 home premium 3 pack upgrade for $100 and install between the rigs.

Of course, used parts might be cheaper, but for warranty purposes plus you are doing it for a business, you might want to consider new.

Also, consider the costs of extending hdmi or dvi (avoid vga for hi def due to interference), so the closer to the tv a htpc is, the better).
