Problems copying large amounts of files

Hi all. We have a photography business and my wife frequently needs to backup her files from one drive on to another. We have window 7 ultimate 64bit and have Teracopy installed.

Whever she goes to a folder containing alot of picture in subfolders, she will right click and copy and then paste onto the new drive. Unfortunately, when she does this, she is getting all the names of the folders copied correctly...but the files contained therein are duplicates of just one folder's files. We have 8gb of ram on that PC.

Any idea what is going on?

The drives are not currently in a raid setup...but at some point we may end up doing that. Any idea on what the best way is to copy large folders WITHOUT going to a Raid setup and with using the setup we have now?

Try to use Windows 7 backup and restore software. Otherwise you could always zip the data then transfer it to your backup.

If you have that much data, have you considered a business server? My wife is a photographer as well, not her primary income, but she does some shoots on the side. All of her older photos and archives are stored on our home server, which has data redundancy, and her current project is stored locally. Once complete with a project she transfers it over to the server, and deletes the local files, server then takes care of making sure we don't loose data. We also have a 500 GB drive that we update once a week and then remove, which is stored in our fire safe. She occasionally will open a file over the network to work on as well but with gigabit there isn't really any lag.

Thanks guys. We will try zipping the folders before copying...but still wondering why we are getting duplicate files in different folders....
