Why would you lose respect for valve? valve wants to keep their customers happy. If you can only get the DLC for retail copys (/other download services), why by from steam? EA is the one breaking the rules, the DLC needs to be on steam. Why was crysis 2 DLC exclusive to direct 2 drive?

It seems that the majority of OCN users will not buy a game if it isn't on Steam, like Valve is the Jesus of the video game industry and not in it for profit like every other companies on Earth

This exactly. It's not coming to Steam - EVER!!!!!!!!!!

Just take my advise everybody, get over it now so when the game comes out you won't be crying anybody a river, you'll just get to playing BF3 like you've always wanted.

NOOOOOO! WHY??! Damnit EA stop breaking things!! (I know VALVe yanked it, but it was because of EA's violation.)

I am getting tired of this, all these hackers messing things up all year long should have saved their efforts to bring down Origin permanently upon release, making it stillborn.

1. For the millionth time already, Steam HAS competition. Brick and Mortar. Best Buy, Target, Gamestop, Amazon. etc.

2. This is actually the OPPOSITE of competition. If Steam sells your game they want the option to sell your DLC as well. The Devs can still sell it themselves AND they can still offer DLC through other D.D. The issue HERE is that EA is purposely preventing Steam from selling DLC as a means to forcibly break their contract. They want to be the only ones who sell you their DLC. Its perfectly within their right but don't try to call it competition. A market where there is only one seller ( Origin ) selling that 1 product ( DLC ) and having many buyers is the very definition of a monopoly.

The plot thickens. Sims 3 has a new DLC available on Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/47899/?snr=1_5_9__205

Strange, I've never heard Steam losing customers games and telling them to basically buy it again, nor have I ever heard of Steam banning people from playing games based on what they said on the Steam forums.

Too true. I don't think I'll ever look at Dragon Age the same way after playing the Witcher.

Well, Steam certainly wouldn't be as important if developers knew how to integrate a decent chat & pm service in their games. On many games out today, its near impossible to organize a game with your friends w/o using steam. I don't know what it is about game devs that they can't grasp the concept of AOL IM.

-Borderlands - has one of the worst chat services out there. You cant message people between games and past messages aren't easy to bring up. no PM ability. If you're not in the game with your friends you can't communicate with them

-Dead Space 2 - forget it, its impossible to communicate with people in your team, let alone having the illusion of being able to contact someone outside that game

-Crysis 2 - Communication for this fast paced game is slow and laborious. No PMing and chat is hard to continue from games to the server lobby.

-Starcraft 2 - Bnet finally introduced a lobby and has a better pm service going but in the start it was damn annoying to try and get people together.

Bioshock 2 - *lesigh*

The other nice things about the Steam overlay is being able to browse other servers as you play in one, the variety of options in filters and being able to see where all your buddies are and inviting them even as they play in other games.
