It probably doesn't matter much, but I would look for one with a good custom cooler, like MSI's Twin Frozr III.

I bought the Twin FrozrII, but only because I got it for $164 with free shipping. Take a look around and get a deal. There are a lot of sales and clearance going on right now, so don't pay full retail.

Asus has pretty good customer support and if you need to RMA all you need is the serial number on the card. This also applies if you sell the card later on, the new buyer can RMA with no issues.

Go with Sapphire ... i guess those are all ref model... point to note is that ref are available no whr and if available it might be 2nd revision of ref board which might not unlock if you planning to unlock. I myself will be buying hd6950 2GB and after researching exhaustively i finally settled with MSI HD6950 2GB Twin frozr III PE/OC.
Some days back I wanted to buy Sapphire ref model but later learned that the twin frozr III is almost similar to 6970 at stock - the diff is only 1-2% or less. And after OCing it beyond 900Mhz it easily beats 6970. Even more... it runs extemely cool even after Ocing and AFAIK overclocks the best as compared to other 6950 2GBs. I doubt if the ref model can be oced beyond 900mhz without heating much. Its your choice take your own time... rethink and choose wisely!

The Asus and MSi are both reference design.
I had a couple reference design in my hands and they all was able to unlock so i would pick one of those, prolly the cheapest or with best warranty.

You can always slap an aftermarket cooler on later if your not happy with the stock one.
I have only tryed a Gelid Icy Vision and i find it a nice and rather cheap cooler. Keeps the card under 58 degrees when gaming and under 65 degrees in furmark with the fans just spinning at 1100rpm [card at 900/1375mhz unlocked]. The Zalman VF3000A is supposed to be rather good to.
