PWM Fan Vs DC Fan

Hi

I ordered 3 artic cooling F12 PWM fans but I received the DC version.

What is the difference with PWM and should I send them back and get the PWM model?

Thanks

They're both DC fans.

You can read more about PWM here. Is this from the mWave deal?

Omg lol.... Pwm stands for pulse width moderation or something of that nature... it manages the DC current to co from fan speed... do the tans have 4 pins. If it dose they are Pwm fans

Modulation my bad

4-pins = DC with Pulse Width Modulation.... a PWM fan controller provides bursts of power to regulate the fan speed.
3-pin = DC with RPM monitor..... a fan controller can control fan speed by reducing voltage.

PWM use less power, provide better control, lower possible RPMs but are more complicated and less common.

What fan controller(s) do you plan to use the fans on?
Once again...

I just plug them into the mobo and have that control the fan speed by the temp of the cpu.
