Looking for good 120gb SSD - Page 2

Vertex 3. It's faster, but more expensive. However, if I recall correctly you said that money was not a problem? Anyhow, I'd go for the Vertex 3.

if money is not a problem get a vertex 3 max iops. if you want to save a bit and not losing noticeable performance the m4 is what you want.

But, yes, edited to say Crucial. That M4 is dang amazing - no problems at all to use. Just installed it into the drive bay with an adapter (my case doesn't have support for SSDs natively), plugged in cables, set to AHCI mode, and everything has been smooth sailing with no need to tweak or configure.

Just a quick question about the M4... doesn't it have slower read (or write... i forgot... but its only one of the two) speeds than the C300.
Why do you still prefer it over the C300? (I'm not saying its wrong I'd just like a reason to make it easier for me to buy an SSD )
And the Max IOPS is 40 Euros more expensive than the non-IOPS.
Another question.
Do you think the "normal" vertex 3 120gb is still better than the m4 128gb?
Thanks in advance

I wonder if this one is any good? All positive reviews (for the few that there are).

Both the Patriot wildfire and OCZ Vertex use the sandforce controller which has been plagued with problems.

The Crucial M4 is your best bet at this point in time. I own a Vertex 3 max iops and from my experience with it, you'd be better off. When the firmware matures enough that the problems are gone, the Vertex will be superior but it's simply not there yet.

If you want to see the issues with the Vertex 3, just go to the OCZ support forum and look at the threads there. It's sad really.

I have the Corsair Force 3. I've been using it for about 2 weeks now. It had a recall, but my drive works perfectly (SN 1126, in theory all drives with SN 1124 or higher should work). No BSODs, no hiccups.

It was 50 euros cheaper than the Corsair Force 3 GT, 40 euros cheaper than the Vertex 3 and 80 euros cheaper then the Vertex 3 max IOPS.

I have the Marvell 1928 Sata III controller so I wouldn't even notice the difference between any of these drives. If I had a SB rig I might have considered a slightly faster SSD, but then I wouldn't have the money for my new monitor!

A local shop near me sells a Kingston 128Gb SSD. Are those any good?
I didn't check if its S-ATA II or III or any specs of it, but are Kingston known for good SSDs?
