LF OC Help

Thread Starter
No matter what I do it seems it won't work, as in I usually test my OC because applications (3d) will just crash.

Been trying to do around 4ghz. I set vcore to max, 1.35. I've tried loadline Calibration. I've tried upping Northbridge. I've tried disabling speed step, c1e, spread spectrum.... I've changed BIOS. Any other ideas? GPU is also never stable, will randomly get stuck at 400mhz.

What chip are you OC'ing? The e8400?

Because 4GHz isn't a small OC for that kind of chip, can you give a few more details on your full settings? And have you got it stable at lower OCs like 3.5/3.6/3.7... because its hard to jump to a large OC like 4GHz in a single step when you don't know the limitation of the board and RAM.

Also, I'm just going to throw it out there, but your RAM, you did lower the multiplier on that right?

I didn't touch the ram. If I change it's frequency it won't POST. I locked all timings the same. 6-6-6-18. The two ram sticks were in different timings according to CPUID. Same model same company just one stick is newer. Been testing GPU clocks and everything with crysis, uniengine and it hasn't crashed at 3.8mhz. I have plenty of cooling. Maybe it's something else limiting it. I could try turning ram to 2.0v

Note: I had this issue before I put the new stick in as I sat on one :x

When you say you didn't touch the RAM, do you mean you didn't touch it at all or reduced it to stock clocks?

Because the FSB controls the RAM and CPU frequency, aka when you OC the CPU if you left the RAM settings alone, you OC'd the RAM too.

You have to turn the multiplier on the RAM down to be able to OC the CPU.

I don't see anything in BIOS related to a RAM multiplier. When I go into FSB and memory settings. I turn the Clock to manual & unlinked. Increasing the QDR to 1750 and leaving ram at 800 DDR.
