Apple has been suing every one lately. HTC is just trying to protect there rear ends from being ban in the USA.
They are just saying that the real idiot here is the patent office. Though I am not defending Apple at all here since they are part of the abuse problem the patent system is facing at the moment.
I wonder what would happen if they just got rid of patents for large companies. Individuals and small/medium sized companies are the ones that really need to be protected. I say if Apple can take HTC's idea and provide it to me at less cost...then go for it. Too bad for HTC. Try again.
I am sick of these companies relying on a patent to make a profit rather then trying to make the best product at the least cost. Just patent and then you get to sell it at whatever the max the consumers are willing to pay for it plus if any one accidentally copies your idea you can sue them for more money. The patents are awesome for large companies...but bad for every one else.
Though I am almost certain I remember a history class that told me patents were originally created to protect smaller companies and individuals from having their idea stolen. I think some requirements should be involved. If you make more than a certain amount each year...no patent for you.Edited by Vagrant Storm - 7/28/11 at 10:10am
