Fallout NV Crash After Fresh Install, Both New and Load Games - Page 2

You are probably not using any mods, but I'm going to ask anyway
Are you using any mods? They usually cause crashes.

Here are few other suggestions you could try:
Update the game with latest patch.
Update your video card drivers.
Update your sound card drivers.

If everything else fails, try installing clean Windows. It might sound painful but if I really wanted to play and everything else failed, I would do it

Latest Drivers on everything, no mods, might try patching, but I dont understand why it would need to be patched seeing that I just installed it straight off of the Steam server

And Reinstalling Windows is not an option I am even going to think about

Edit: Why can't I find the patch files??

Edit again: I take back having the latest ATi driver, lets see what happens when this is installed... With the new driver, problem still persists....

I don't think it's Fallout anymore.
I'd run memory tests and check for errors (try memtest86+), defragment hard drive, check Windows for errors, also try full antivirus/malware scan.
Alternatively you can ask in http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php...gas-pc-issues/
A lot of people there seem to have issue with crashes, you might find an answer.

I always partition my harddrive and install OS on one partition, keep everything else on second. Makes Windows re installation easy as 1 2 3

Well, it turns out to be a driver compatibility problem, that is at the fault of Bethesda, because their latest patch causes the game to crash when my sound card is enabled.... When the sound card is disabled, the game functions like it should..

I just disabled the sound card for the heck of it and it turned out to be the problem. Guess I am gonna have to use headphones until this problem is mitigated?

Ah, that would make sense. The Asus Xonar doesn't play nice with a lot of games.

Just a quick note, because it's a huge pet peeve.

Bethesda PUBLISHED NV, they did not develop it. If it is anyone's fault, it would be Obsidian Entertainment.

Also, get the 3rd party Xonar drivers, they are quite a bit better.

And the file that keeps verifying through steam is the .exe file re-downloading its self.

It will happen every time and it does not affect anything..

That is true, however NV is using the same engine as F3 and Oblivion.

Engine doesn't mean that much. See: Black Ops.

and Obsidian still controls the updates.
