I don't mind spotting. The problem is there are spots you can hide without being seen, and still shoot at the enemy (like that video). People just lie down in the bushes, cannot be seen, but can kill people that are spotted. So that just means more people hiding in bushes. In BFBC2 you could only hide behind solid objects you couldn't shoot through (minus the occasional fallen tree that eventually disappears). So you had to at least make yourself visible to the enemy in order to kill them.

3D spotting is for noobs. I cant stand softcore BC2 because I hate the fact that there are tons of triangles telling where people are.

If this is a feature in BF3 that cant be turned off, I will be mad. I wish I could see how the game is but they wont let me try it.

Yet you're calling them nothing but whiners.

To summarise.

Alpha stage game needs lots of feedback.

Testers give feedback.

You tell them to stop whining.

Right.

I thought you weren't buying Battlefield 3 anyway (from your last "boycott BF3" posts) lol. Or was I correct in calling you a fibber

BC2 is the youngest Battlefield release to date. Its a year old.

I dont see where your "its been in there since the launch of BC2" comes in as if BC2 is some classic game and the feature they are discussing is a classic Battlefield feature (which it is not).

And they've been asking for reform of the feature since the release of BC2 too. Just goes to show how disconnected you are from the community.

Playing BC2 first will do nothing. I've played BC2 religiously and while I find the feature acceptable for a game like BC2, I dont think it works as well for what Battlefield 3 is trying to do.

For someone who is complaining about "whiners" trying their best to help the game in its development, you seemed very intent on whining about the flechette ammo in the physical warfare pack giving an unfair advantage when the flechette ammo is also available for other shotguns.

At least this "whining" is to help the game develop as a result of actually playing the alpha.

As opposed to your whining about unfair advantages that didn't exist in the first place.
No, the alpha is for testing bugs and performance issues of the servers. NONE of those people are posting bug reports. All the people posting bug reports aren't in those threads complaining about Q spamming.

I repeat, the alpha is for TESTING BUGS and PERFORMANCE of the SERVERS. It's right there on their website in black and white. It doesn't say in the survey "how do you feel about the spotting feature?" it says "ho much cover in in the maps? Did you notice the heal marker above peoples heads"

The whinging people are all intent on cancelling their preorders and don't try to bloody lecture me about Battlefield games. I said in the warfare pack thread and I'll have to say it again, I'm a long time BF player. My Vet status is only 2 because I couldn't get the older games to load form Gamespy. Noit that that matters because my objection on the warfare pack was simply because I totally disagree with preorder incentives like that. Free map pack everyone can buy, yes, free pack no-one can buy, no. EA back pedalled on that one. I hope to dear god they don't on this one.

Also, no, the video breaches the NDA and I hope the uploader/crteator is slammed hard for it.

I've been playing the alpha for a few days now and I'm LOVING it. I've been reporting bugs and errors like crazy and generally helping out. Maybe that's because I've been able to divert most of my attention towards finding bugs and enjoying the game instead of crying hard about the "feature".

I know, right?

What detriment does this have to the game? BC2 is a best seller and up until seeing those alpha forums I had NO IDEA it was such a bug bear. I've NEVER heard ANYONE moaning about it in-game or otherwise until now.

DICE need to vet who they give these keys out to more carefully. Give alpha keys to people who actually report bugs, crashes and performance issues instead of ungrateful little craps who think they've got an early demo.

I kill alot in BC2 without seeing the opponent. You see the orange triangle you shoot at it. Most likely it is someone camping that gets killed that way.

its all about trial and error. Someone I get a few kills that way, sometimes I do not.

Shooting through leaves is nothing new, and can certainly take place in real environment.

I have been play and alot of oponents hide in bushes. Someone spotting them and bringing up the orange triangle goves me the kill

I'm just gonna be honest, this isn't the "holy crap, I'll playing this for YEARS" experience I was hoping for.

The spotting is going to be tough on people who are on the move..... I HOPE they tweak it just a little. Level has the tunnel feel of BC2.

Game feels like BC3.... sorry, but it does. Still a def buy, but not what I was hoping for. Still time to tweak things a little.

I'm like you and don't like the spotting as well. Fortunately for both of us BF3 will also have hardcore mode, so it should be able to be turned off.

IMO the spotting should only come up when u have a clear view of the target, if you are behind bushes it should go away until you have a clear line of sight, or it should show the icon where the opponent was last seen and not follow him. I also wish i have come across a bug this is one of the smoothest alpha/previews i have played, the positioning icon hopefully will be tweaked as its about every other topic on the alpha forums, other than that i am curious to see if it becomes bad company 3 or a true battlefield 2 successor, either way it will be pretty good.
