New 2500k GTX570 build

Thread Starter

Hello,
As the title says I'm planning a gaming build based around those two components. I could use advice on a few components. I've put my planned build in my sig, and I'll update it as things change.

MOBO: Asus P8P67 Pro (GPU combo)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.667521

CPU: Intel i5 2500k
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115072

Cooler: CM hyper 212+

should I go with a better cooler for a quieter OC? Is the Scythe Mugen 3 any good?

GPU: Asus GTX 570 direct CUII (in Combo)
If there's a better/quieter OCer please let me know. The MSI power edition is out of stock at amazon, and a bit more expensive at newegg, do you think it's worth the extra money?

RAM: Mushkin 8GB 1600Mhz
Mushkin http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820226184

HDD Spinpoint F3 1TB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822152185

PSU XFX Pro750W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817207016
I know I could get by with less wattage, but I plan on using this PSU for future builds that m may require more power

Case: Silverstone RV03

Blu ray drive
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106326

Are there any issues with components selected? If I've overlooked better ones please let me know. Thanks for the help.

id swap the cooler for a megahalem or corsair h70 personally.

RAM id go for a 2x4gb g.skill 1600mhz kit.

PSU, XFX warranty is supposed to be really crappy. The new corsair ax800/850W PSU might be better choice.

For PSU if you could shell out an extra $20 you get the HX750 Corsair Pro series it says Silver Certified but its actually Gold, you can check on the 80plus website. Awesome PSU.

For RAM I love the vengeance series

Everything else looks good! I love my MOBO.

I wasn't sure on the RAM, I think I'll step up to these GSkill units http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231445

Though my budget can stretch a bit, I would like to keep costs reasonable, as far as CPU cooling would an H60 $70 be a good option, or should a go for an air cooler~$50

Now the build looks very good, the XFX PRO is a quality PSU, you won't have any problems with that

For coolers I'm considering the scythe Mugen 3 or Xigmatek Balder, I could spend more and go for an H60 or equivalent Antec, or a similarly priced air cooler.(Edit for odd phrasing) One of my primary concerns is the cooling/dollar (at a reasonable noise level), I'm willing to spend more as long as its worth it.

The Mugen 3 comes in a nice combo with the 2500k http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.688693
This is quite tempting, I've looked at a few reveiws and for the price it looks good, are there better, similarly priced options I'm not aware of?

Yup if moneys not super tight get a corsair psu for sure. I enjoyed my h70 for an intro to water cooling. And I'd like to suggest the Asus work station Mobo. The reason being is that it has the nforce200 chip in it. That will serve you much better in the future to add more video cards. Have fun!

That's almost the exact build I did for a friend of mine recently. Swap out the RAM for G.Skill, swap out the PSU for a HX750, and the motherboard for the ASUS Z68-V Pro and you have the same computer.

Great setup!
