Zalman mic not picking up voice

So basically my zalman mic has some issues picking up my voice when attached to my headphone cable. It only picks up when I place it next to my mouth and talk into it.

I enabled the mic boost to +30dB and increased my mic level to 100%. W2dO?

Turn off the mic boost and put the mic somewhere in front of you?

PS: G500>G5>MX518

Optical sucks

zalman mic need to be closer to your mouth.. clipping to your shirt kinda sucks, it falls out easily.

my solution: packing tape over a piece of paper (so mic/cable doesnt get sticky) above my sternum

Yeah, but isn't the whole point of mic boost to assist in tracking your voice?

The only problem is that when the mic is pinned to my headphone wire, it's actually closer to my mouth, as opposed to clipping it to my shirt.

Daily bump, issue was not fixed even after installing an Asus Xonar DG sound card (although the system audio sounds tons better now).

Thinking about going back to headsets now... even if they have bad sound quality. Can't function without a good, working mic!
