The original adapter has a sticker on it that says "replace with HP spare 402018-001," which appears to be this product. The output is the same as the original's, too, although the input is different, although I don't think that matters.

If it helps, the laptop I'm getting this for is a Compaq Presario F577CL.

Yes it should work, as long as its the same voltage.

Did you already buy it? Those "Replacement AC Adapters" are generally not the best idea. I work with them all day at work, and they melt from the inside left and right.

For reference, check the back of your laptop and see what the voltage/amperage rating is.

More than likely its 18.5V/3.5A or 19V/4.74A.. I would really advise looking for an HP/CPQ branded one!

Like this?

The pictured product, at least, looks like the original, but then I don't always trust Amazon with respect to pictures. I assume, given that it's the same spare part number as the one designated on the original charger, it should work.

And yeah, it's 18.5V/3.5A output for what I have now.

Judging by a few of the buyer reviews, it is an actual HP one, and at a pretty good price too. I'd snag it up.
