955 C3 trying for 4ghz - Page 2

ok Ill do it that way. thanks

If anyone is curious I did find that bumping the cpu/nb voltage slightly, even if the frequency is still at 2000, helped stability(edit- this is false)sry. Thats all I changed and it did not Blue screen this time...

I would prefer to go up incrementally until i hit 4ghz with the absolute lowest voltage possible.

So i went all the way up to 1.525V and it still was not stable @ 4ghz. I tried a combo of multi and ref clock as well as just multi and it was never prime stable. Temps started to get pretty high as well. 58C too high for my tastes. Im not willing to go over 1.525V so I guess its no joy. I guess i got a bad 955..... LAME

I'll have to be happy with 3.7ghz @1.35 v. Shouldnt be to big a bottleneck for my new vga card, come xmas.......

I also found a bump in the CPU-NB to help - even with CPU-NB at stock and RAM at rated specs.

A better cooler that allows for lower temperatures may help by pushing back the wall where you start needing significantly more voltage for less clock speed. Going from Xiggy DK to D14 allowed me to run 4Ghz at 1.425V down from 1.475V.
