6950 crossfire issue - am i just dumb?

Thread Starter
i recently received 2 xfx 6950's installed the latest drivers from the amd website (11.7) and performed a clean install of everything, in CCC (or VCC now) im not seeing anything about enabling crossfire, i onyl have 1 bridge installed as the crosshair IV makes me put the cards in 1 and 3 so the dual slot space is too far to bridge it with short adapters. im hoping that i dont need a second bridge.

just wondering if anyone has some input as to why this isnt working.

many thanks:
foster

Put card in slot 1&2, right next to each other, no need to put them apart, they'll just get a little bit hotter.

The lastest drivers are 11.7 not 10.7

sorry yes 11.7 typed 10.7 out of habbit, its been a while since ive had a graphics upgrade. and slow 2 is an 8x slot, not a 16x slot so i have to use 1 and 3 as per the boards specs

*Facepalm* x8 will not effect nearly any performance.

Why would you facepalm when he's asking a question?

OP, check to make sure your cards are seated properly and that you can see them both in device manager. Often when crossfire doesn't auto-enable it's a seating issue.

If you are seing both 6950s under Device Manager, try to use the other Crossfire bridge ribbon. I've had a broken link in the bridge even it was new and replacing it with a new one solved the issue.

If one of the cards doesn't show in Device Manager, move the card to the PCIe slot of the working 6950 to eliminate the card or the PCIe is defective.
