Q6600 overclocking issues - Page 7

I think his board is showing the rated FSB speed & not the bus speed is where I'm having the problems, since all boards I have fooled with had Bus speed as changable FSB.

If you could post a screen shot of CPUZ on the cpu tab and also on the Mem tab that would be helpful.

& no, the first thing he needs to do is NOT overclock his memory!

He needs to take his memory out of the equation!

If yours shows the FSB like mine it shows it with the QDR not just the FSB. So going on multiples of 4 will net a more accurate speed.

If he knows how high he can get it to go then it will make it easier to know if its cpu or mem related when its unstable.

:/ there is a reason I said grab CoreTemp and give me a screen shot. it displays your VID and your revision.... CPU-z will not give you vid.

also I know the lowest multi is 6. Also your board is not exactly the best for overclocking quads on and I THINK it has an FSB wall of around 400 :/

And if my memory serves me right oyu can unlatch your memory, meaning you can run your memory out of skew from the FSB (AKA leave it at 800) with the nforece 790i chipset. This will come in handy to see how hard you can push your Q6600.

me? I just run in a 1:1 ratio with some faster memory (1066 gives me up to 533Mhz on the FSB and gives me wiggle room without having to worry about the ram).

Ya I'll set on the side line as well. I've never had a EVGA board so I'm pretty lost with its bios options since I have never fooled with one.

Edit: now if it was and Abit board we could rock & roll.
